Veteran actor Ravi Patwardhan dies of heart attack at 83

Veteran actor Ravi Patwardhan who has worked in Hindi and Marathi entertainment industry died on Saturday after suffering a heart attack. He was 83.

Ravi Patwardhan died at a hospital in Mumbai on December 5.

Veteran actor Ravi Patwardhan died of a heart attack at the age of 83. The actor was admitted to a Mumbai hospital on Saturday (December 5) after having trouble in breathing. The actor had suffered a heart attack earlier this year in March. The actor is survived by his wife, daughter, two sons, daughters-in-law, son-in-law and grandchildren.

Ravi Patwardhan was rushed to Jupiter Hospital in Thane after he complained of breathlessness. “He passed away due to a heart attack last night around 9-9.30 pm. He had some breathing issues and had a seizure at home so we immediately rushed him to a hospital. He stopped responding and within half-an-hour, we lost him,” Ravi Patwardhan’s son Niranjan Patwardhan told PTI.

Ravi Patwardhan, who was last seen on Marathi TV show Aggabai Sasubai, has acted in over 200 Hindi and Marathi films and more than 150 plays.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray took to Twitter to pay his last respects to the veteran actor. He paid tribute to the veteran actor who gave “weight” to character roles with his acting.

Ravi Patwardhan’s role as Dhritrashtra in Marathi film Aaranyak was known for his roles in Hindi and Marathi films like Ankush, Tezaab, Ashya Asawya Suna, Umbartha and Jyotiba Phule. He was loved for his portrayal of Ajoba in Zee Marathi’s Aggabai Sasubai.
