NEW DELHI: Consumer electronics giant Samsung is expected to launch three new foldable smartphones next year. According to an online report, Samsung is said to expand the product portfolio of foldable smartphones in 2021. As per a report by The Elec, Samsung is expected to launch three foldable smartphones likely to be called — Galaxy Z Flip 2, GalaxyZ Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Fold Lite.
The report further suggests that Samsung has started production of three types of OLED panels for each of the yet to launch smartphones. Along with this, the tech giant has also started development and production of the Ultra-thin glass (UTG) that will protect the panels.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is said to feature a screen size similar to that of the present Galaxy Z Fold 2. Rumours suggest that Samsung will use an under-screen camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The smartphone is also said to come with an S Pen.
The report also suggests that it will be quite challenging for the company to use S Pen with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 as the company will have to make sure that the UTG display should be able to resist the scratches.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Lite will be the cheaper version of the foldable smartphones launched by the company so far. With the launch of Samsung Galaxy Z Fold Lite, the company aims to offer foldable smartphones at an affordable price. It is expected that the smartphone will come with the same screen size as the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
Lastly, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 is expected to come with the same 6.7-inch internal display. The smartphone is said to house a 3-inch external display. The smartphone will not come with an under-screen camera and will continue with the punch-hole display.
The report also reveals that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to launch in later 2021, while the Galaxy Z Fold Lite is likely to launch early next year.
