The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) on Tuesday demanded proper medical aid for party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav who is currently being treated at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi. Lalu Prasad was recently shifted to his old address, room number A11, in private wards at the first floor of the RIMS hospital from Kelly Bungalow — RIMS director’s bungalow.

RJD spokesperson Smita Lakda said, “Though we respect the court’s decision and governments move, it needs to be ensured by the administration that there is no negligence in care provided to ailing party supremo. He is reeling under multiple ailments and comorbidities. He also has diabetes. He is a chronic HTN patient. He even underwent heart surgery. His kidney functioning is abnormal and functions in stage 4. At stage 4, only 30 per cent to 35 per cent kidney is functional. Doctors attending Lalu Prasad had said earlier that if his kidney function dips further, he would need dialysis.”

Lalu Prasad Yadav was shifted to RIMS private ward on November 26, after he landed in a fresh row over an audio clip.

RIMS sources said that after being shifted to the private ward of the hospital from Kelly Bungalow, Lalu Prasad Yadav is feeling jittery. He does not have access to sunlight.

Currently, Lalu Prasad Yadav is serving a term for his involvement in the fodder scam. The next hearing on Lalu’s bail plea in the fodder scam-related Dumka treasury case is scheduled to take place on December 11.
