The Rajasthan BJP unit has lashed out at state Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for saying that the Congress supports the farmers’ call for Bharat Bandh on December 8.
Rajasthan BJP Chief Satish Poonia said that Rahul Gandhi and his family indulge in “part-time politics” and have nothing to do with farmers.
“Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has supported the Bharat Bandh call for December 8. At this time, India does not need a bandh. Cooperation is needed for paving the path for a new India, open India. I feel the way he [Gehlot] said that Rahul Gandhi is in favour of farmers and he had laid down the ground for farmers’ agitation is baseless. Rahul Gandhi and his entire family indulge in part-time politics and they have nothing to do with farmers’ benefit neither does Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot,” BJP state president Satish Poonia said.
“Ashok Gehlot has not been able to answer till now, when will debt waiver for farmers in Rajasthan happen. I believe that if they are true well-wishers then they should take stock of Rajasthan’s farmers first,” Poonia added.
Earlier in the day, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had claimed that Congress supports the bandh call given by farmers.
In a statement, Gehlot said, “Congress party supports Bharat Bandh in favour of farmers on December 8. As we know Rahul ji has been raising the voice of farmers through his signature campaign, Kisan and tractor rally. He has been an ardent supporter of the farmers of the country and every Congress worker stands with him in taking this cause of farmers to every corner of the nation.”
