Porcelain sneakers might fetch up to USD 1 million in auction. Viral pics


A pair of Adidas ZX 8000 shoes has been converted into an exclusive art piece as the sneakers were hand-painted with floral motifs. It features overlays of porcelain.

Adidas Originals and acclaimed porcelain maker Meissen collaborated to create a pair of sneakers that could be the first to be sold for a million dollars. Sotheby’s, an auction company headquartered in New York City, said that the shoes could fetch up to USD 1 million in auction.

WHAT ARE THE SNEAKERS MADE OF?

A pair of Adidas ZX 8000 shoes has been converted into an exclusive art piece as the sneakers were hand-painted with floral motifs. The sneakers, made from premium leather, include overlays of porcelain, adorned with 15 of around 130 patterns that Meissen adds to its iconic Krater vase, The Sportsman reports.

It, indeed, is a beautiful piece.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PAIR OF SNEAKERS?

Sotheby’s has said that the pair of sneakers will be auctioned for between USD 1 and USD 1,000,000. Proceeds from the auction will go to Brooklyn Museum to help fund access to the arts for local youths.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO MAKE THE SNEAKERS?

The team took around six months to make the sneakers. It was designed over a period of one year. Four painters across three separate Meissen departments made it into a painstakingly-crafted piece.

The porcelain shoes will be available online on the Sotheby’s website from December 7 to December 16.
