On 15 years of Apaharan, Ajay Devgn says what made this film a memorable one

15 years ago this day, Parakash Jha-directed crime-action drama, Apaharan hit the screens. Starring Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles, Apaharan is set in the backdrop of Bihar’s rampant kidnappings. Ajay Devgn shared video montage of sorts on Instagram, which features clippings from his film. “The cast, the plot, the intensity in characters made this movie a memorable one… Celebrating #15YearsOfApaharan (sic),” Ajay’s caption read.

ABOUT APAHARAN

Apaharan released in 2005 to mixed reviews at the box office. Yashpal Sharma, Anoop Soni, Ayub Khan, Mohan Agashe and Pankaj Tripathi also played pivotal roles in the film. Apaharan earned Rs 80,826,121 at the box office and was declared semi-hit. Prakash Jha, Manoj Tyagi and Shridhar Raghavan won the National Award for the Best Screenplay. The Filmfare for Best Villian and Dialogue was awarded to Nana Patekar and Prakash Jha, respectively.

Ajay Devgn was last seen in 2020’s Tanhaji, which also starred Saif Ali Khan, Sharad Kelkar and Kajol. He will be next seen in Bhuj: The Pride of India, which is set during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Sanjay Dutt, Sonakshi Sinha, Nora Fatehi, Sharad Kelkar, Ammy Virk and Pranitha Subhash are also part of the film. The film is set to release on Disney+Hotstar.
