Netflix makes Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap get into ugly Twitter fight. For AK vs AK

Anil Kapoor and Anurag Kashyap got into an ugly Twitter fight. However, nothing to worry there as it’s all to promote their upcoming Netflix film AK vs AK. The digital film will soon release on the OTT platform. In the film, Anurag plays a director while Anil Kapoor is a film star. The film has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. And this is all a build-up for AK vs AK press conference, which will be held tomorrow (December 7).


Anil Kapoor took to Twitter to congratulate Delhi Crime team for their International Emmy win. He wrote, “I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again because they absolutely deserve it! Congratulations to the #DelhiCrime team! Nice to finally see more of our people get international recognition. @ShefaliShah_ #WelcomeToHollywood (sic).”

To which Anurag Kashyap replied, “Nice to see some deserving people get international recognition. Waise, aapka Oscar kidhar hain? No? Achha… nomination? (sic).”


When Anil Kapoor said that the closed Anurag has come to an Oscar was when he watched Slumdog Millionaire win Oscars on TV, he replied, “Says the k-k-k-ing of hand-me-down films. Weren’t you the second choice for this film also?”

Their Twitter spat didn’t stop there but what followed was a series of Tweet exchanges between the actor and the filmmaker.

Their Twitter fight might have confused the fans. However, soon celebs and other Twitter users pointed out that this was all for the movies’ promotion. Actor Sidharth Malhotra wrote, “AK v/s AK the campaign has begun it seems @NetflixIndia”.

The synopsis of AK vs AK reads, “A brash film director (Anurag Kashyap) kidnaps the daughter of a movie star (Anil Kapoor) and films the star’s desperate search for his daughter in real-time as his next blockbuster.”
