NCLT Schedules Wilmington’s Insolvency Plea Hearing Against SpiceJet On 16 June

SpiceJet currently possesses a fleet of 67 aircraft, including Boeing 737, B737 Max, and Bombardier-Q400 regional jets

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has scheduled Wilmington’s complaint hearing against SpiceJet on 16 June 2023, according to ANI.

Wilmington had approached the NCLT to initiate insolvency proceedings against SpiceJet.

In May, Wilmington Trust SP Services, along with two other lessors, Sabarmati Aviation Leasing and Falgu Aviation Leasing, requested the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to deregister three planes owned by SpiceJet.

The NCLT issued a notice to SpiceJet, based on a petition from an aircraft lessor seeking the start of insolvency resolution proceedings in the same month.

SpiceJet currently possesses a fleet of 67 aircraft, including Boeing 737, B737 Max, and Bombardier-Q400 regional jets.

As of early May, 37 of these aircraft were operational, while the remaining 30 were not in service, as per data from an aircraft tracking website cited by ANI.
