MP Govt Announces Ladli Laxmi Tag For Panchayats Who Promote Girl Welfare


The scheme aims to change the mindset of people towards girls and check child marriage, improve the gender ratio, ensure proper nutrition and education to girls and 100 per cent admission in primary schools

The Madhya Pradesh government on Thursday said it would declare a village panchayat as ‘Ladli Laxmi friendly’ if it fulfils certain conditions related to implementation of welfare schemes. These conditions include no child marriage in the past one year, 100 per cent admission of girls in primary school, no malnutrition of the girl child and no crime against them.

According to reports, the state has made this announcement to promote the Ladli Laxmi Yojna, which was launched by the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and also promote the well-being of the girl child. 

As per the information, the scheme aims to change the mindset of people towards girls and check child marriage, improve the gender ratio, ensure proper nutrition and education to girls and 100 per cent admission in primary schools. 

The state government officials say that this scheme will surely ensure better education ratio for girls. “For higher education, the state government under the Mukhyamantri Ladli Lakshmi Yojna gives Rs 25,000 in two instalments. So far, 44.82 lakh girls have been registered and scholarship amounting to Rs 366.21 crore has been given to 13.20 lakh girls.”
