Arrested Saradha group promoter Sudipta Sen has shot off a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee mentioning names of several political leaders who took money from him.
Currently lodged in Kolkata’s Presidency Jail in connection to the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam, Sen, in his letter dated December 1, names Suvendu Adhikari, the dissident Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader along with Mukul Roy.
According to Sen, Adhikari took Rs 6 crore from him. Regarding Mukul Roy, Sen writes that the BJP leader has taken “huge amount of money” but does not mention any amount saying that he could not remember.
Apart from the above two, Sen names Congress MP from Behrampore Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, CPIM MLA Sujan Chakraborty and CPIM politburo member Biman Bose as beneficiaries from the Saradha group.
Arrested by the state police in 2013 after the Ponzi firm went bust, Sen says Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury took Rs 6 crore, Sujan Chakraborty got Rs 9 crore and Biman Bose took Rs 2 crore from him.
Mentioning all the four major political parties in Bengal — TMC, BJP, CPIM and Congress — Sen in his letter writes, “It is painful to me to see that who are taking high money and actually cheat poor people are now joining BJP. I request the CBI and the state police for investigating the matter properly and necessary action may be kindly taken.”
