Kangana Ranaut shares Thalaivi stills on J Jayalalithaa’s 4th death anniversary

December 5, 2020, marks the fourth death anniversary of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. On this day, Kangana Ranaut took to Twitter to share a few stills from her upcoming film Thalaivi, which is a biopic based on Jayalalithaa. In her caption, she revealed that she has one more week of shoot to go. Thalaivi, directed by AL Vijay, will be released in two parts.


Taking to Twitter, Kangana posted a few stills from Thalaivi, in which she plays J Jayalalithaa. In the three pictures that she shared, she can be seen clad in a white saree with red and black borders, which indicated the colours in the AIADMK party flag.

Sharing the photos, Kangana wrote, “On the death anniversary of Jaya Amma, sharing some working stills from our film Thalaivi- the revolutionary leader. All thanks to my team, especially the leader of our team Vijay sir who is working like a super human to complete the film, just one more week to go (sic).”

On Jayalalithaa’s death anniversary, actresses Aishwarya Rajesh and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar took to Twitter to remember the iconic leader. Jayalalithaa breathed her last at a private hospital on December 5 after being hospitalised for 75 days.

Sharing a throwback photo of Jayalalithaa, Aishwarya Rajesh wrote, “Remembering one of Tamil Nadu’s towering personalities, late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister #JJayalalithaa Amma today on the occasion of her death anniversary! A strong leader with a vision who governed with efficiency and courage! (sic).”

Varalaxmi, too, shared an old photo of Jayalalithaa and remembered her. “#ironlady in the true sense..An amazing woman who kept a head held high n lived her life on her own terms.! It’s not without struggle she reached these great heights..but she inspired every woman to aspire to be like her or be inspired to be something more (sic),” her post read.


Jointly produced by Shaailesh R Singh and Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Thalaivi is slated to hit the theatres in 2021. Earlier, the first part of Thalaivi was supposed to release on June 26, 2020. Due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, the film’s released was postponed.
