J&K Police, CRPF bust terrorist hideout in Baramulla, grenades recovered


The terrorist hideout between Shirpora and Naribal in Baramulla was discovered during a cordon and search operation launched by J&K police and the CRPF.

CRPF on Saturday busted a terrorist hideout in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla Saturday. The bust was the result of a joint cordon and search operation launched by Baramulla Police and 53 and 176 Battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

In a statement, J&K Police said, “On the basis of information about a hideout of terrorists between Shirpora & Naribal, Baramulla police along with CRPF launched cordon & search operation & one hideout was busted. 2 UBGL grenades, one Chinese grenade, medicines & incriminating documents were recovered.”

Officials confirmed that medicine, a blanket, a China-made grenade and two Underbarrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) grenades. A few incriminating documents were also recovered from the hideout.

A case has been registered in this regard under sections 4 and 5 of the Explosives Act at Chandoosa police station.

At present, Jammu and Kashmir is witnessing its first major political exercise since the Abrogation of Article 370- the District Development Council (DDC) elections. Phase 3 of the eight-phased polls recorded 61.10 per cent voter turnout in Jammu and 49.25 per cent voter turnout in Kashmir on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pakistan engaged in ceasefire violation in Qasba and Kirni sector in J&K’s Poonch district around 4 pm Saturday. Small arms and mortar shelling were reported from the area. The Indian Army retaliated accordingly.
