Virat Kohli-led India will look to put the ODI series defeat behind them when they take on Aaron Finch’s Australia in the first game of the three-match T20I series on Friday in Canberra.
India may have lost the ODI series, but Virat Kohli’s team has a chance put to turn the fortunes before the much-anticipated Test series. With the T20 World Cup scheduled in India next year, the upcoming three-match series gives both India and Australia an opportunity to test out their squads.
D’arcy Short is likely to open the batting with Aaron Finch for Australia in David Warner’s absence. Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne should follow the opening duo. Glenn Maxwell and Alex Carey will form the team’s middle-order.
For India, KL Rahul should open the batting along with Shikhar Dhawan. Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, and Manish Pandey should form the team’s middle-order. Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja formed a good partnership in the 3rd ODI and the duo will continue at the No. 6 and No. 7 positions.
Washington Sundar could return to India’s squad as a replacement of Yuzvendra Chahal who was not in the best of form in the recently concluded ODI series. CSK pacer Deepak Chahar may also get a chance due to his ability to get wickets with the new ball.
