Historical show on Ahilyabai Holkar to premiere on January 4


A new historical show, Punyashlok Ahilyabai, will premiere on Sony TV on January 4. The show stars Aditi Jaltaree and Rajesh Shringarpure in lead roles.

Sony TV is set to launch a new historical show, Punyashlok Ahilyabai on January 4. The period drama set in the 18th century is based on the life of Ahilyabai Holkar, who with the support of her father-in-law Malhar Rao Holkar, defied the pre-defined norms of the patriarchal society.

WHO STARS IN PUNYASHLOK AHILYABAI?

Valiant tales of Ahilyabai Holkar will be narrated on the Indian television for the first time. Child actress Aditi Jaltare plays the role of Ahilya, while Rajesh Shringarpure will be seen as Ahilya’s father-in-law, Malhar Rao Holkar.

WHAT IS PUNYASHLOK AHILYABAI ABOUT?

The show will celebrate the special bond shared between Ahilya and his father-in-law. The story traces Ahilyabai Holkar’s journey from a village girl to a queen of the Maratha empire, who earned the title of Matoshree. Ahilyabai Holkar is known to be one of the finest women rulers in Indian history.

Punyashlok Ahilyabai on January 4 on Sony TV at 7.30 pm. It will be aired from Monday to Friday.

WHO IS AHILYABAI HOLKAR?

Ahilyabai Holkar was the queen of the kingdom of Malwa. She was married to Khanderao Holkar at the age of eight. She lost her husband in the battle of Kumbher in 1754 and was widowed at the age of 28. She was going to commit sati but her father-in-law stopped her. He treated her like her own daughter and was one of his biggest support systems. She took care of the kingdom after her father-in-law died in 1766. Ahilyabai is known to be a prolific ruler and was loved by her people for being kind and just.
