Heavy Rains In Delhi-NCR, IMD Hints More Downpour In Next Few Hours


Heavy rain, gusty winds and thunderstorms relieved the Delhi- NCR from the scorching heat on Saturday morning. 

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said a cluster of cloud patches led to a sudden downpour in the Delhi-NCR and hinted that the adjoining areas can expect more rain in the next few hours.

The weather office hinted that Delhi-NCR will also face thunderstorms or dust storms with moderate rainfall and gusty winds with speeds of 40-70 km per hour.

The rainfall has caused waterlogging in several parts of the capital city. Delhi Airport also confirmed the bad weather had an impact on flight operations and advised flyers to check arrival and departure schedules with their respective airlines. 

IMD stressed that the weather will continue to be the same for the next 3-4 days with no heatwave conditions till 30 May.

Following the weather forecast, IMD released an advisory on Twitter for rain updates. It suggested, everyone in Delhi and neighbouring areas about traffic congestion and slippery roads and asked people to stay indoors if possible.

According to IMD the other areas to face bad weather are Loni Dehat, Hindon AF Station, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar and Ballabhgarh.
