Google Photos’ new feature can turn your Android phone into a ‘live’ photo frame – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Android users, Google is rolling out a new feature that will allow you to use some images from your Google Photos app as a live wallpaper.
According to a report by XDA Developers, the latest version of the Google Photos app — version 5.22 — comes with a new live wallpaper feature. In order to use this feature, users will have to go to your phone’s wallpaper picker and go for the live wallpaper option. Here, users should be able to see ‘Memories’ as a new option.
From here, the report suggests, one will be able to see a preview that will show how memories will appear on the home screen.
Unfortunately, the images that Google picks as your memories are not under your control — at least at the moment — which is why the options that you may get to choose from as a wallpaper may appear random.
While users don’t need to particularly enable this feature from the Google Photos app, it still appears that the sync between the Memories of Google Photos app and the phone’s default wallpaper selector to choose a live wallpaper needs the app to be on the latest version.
As of now, the internet search giant hasn’t made any announcement about this feature yet and the feature seems to be live in the APK version for now as the Play Store listing of the Google Photos app doesn’t show any new update of the Google Photos app. It also remains to be seen if Google will be offering the same support for its iOS users or not.
