G-20 New Delhi Summit Adds To India’s Growing Clout: Assocham

“G-20 Summit under India’s Presidency has delivered a fair and candid vision to the members reminding them about global responsibility to work for sustainable and equitable growth,” Assocham Secretary-general Deepak Sood said

G-20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration adopted with consensus on a wide range of issues confronting the global economic and geo-political environment is a reflection of India’s clout as an influential economic and strategic power which continues to grow under the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Assocham said on Saturday.

“G-20 Summit under India’s Presidency has delivered a fair and candid vision to the members reminding them about global responsibility to work for sustainable and equitable growth and navigate the headwinds including the cost of living crisis in several major economies and supply chain disruptions because of geopolitical reasons,” Assocham Secretary General Deepak Sood said.

He said that the leaders’ declaration has taken particular note of priorities emphasised by India with regard to issues like global financial stability, integration of the MSMEs into international trade and adoption of modern taxation systems across the world.

“India’s push towards open source digital public infrastructure has been well accepted and would create immense opportunities for the new age entrepreneurs and the startups in innovative businesses like artificial intelligence,” he said.

Sood said that hosting the G20 Summit has strengthened  India’s economic and political heft across major powers of the world. The meeting has provided a global platform for the leaders to exchange ideas of common interest and an opportunity for India to add dynamism to bilateral relationships with the influential economies of the world. ”The Prime Minister’s bilateral meetings with top leaders including US  President Joe Biden would go a long way in strengthening economic and strategic engagement across the world,” the chamber Secretary-General said.
