In the light of this change, ETHealthworld.com organized a virtual conference, Connect@Health, which explored newer technologies for delivering healthcare digitally. More than 25,000 doctors registered and over 12000+ doctors attended. The event witnessed the views of India’s leading experts from various therapies along with global technology experts on the future of telehealth. As a part of this virtual event, Connect2Clinic, an innovative and intuitive platform was launched and critically evaluated by experts.
Connect@Health started with the keynote address from Dr. Shashank Joshi, Padma Shri awardee, leading endocrinologists and a core team member of the Covid-19 task force. He highlighted that during the pandemic, visiting a clinic was a risk both to physicians and patients. This digital connectivity has become more of a need!! “The biggest challenge for patients and populations at large is to have access to healthcare 24×7, 365 days. Digital platforms provide this gateway and create a connected ecosystem – the digital health ecosystem, all are connected,” said Dr. Joshi.
Is teleconsultation the new normal?
Dr. Hemant Thacker, a leading cardiometabolic physician of the country, believes it to be a fact that necessity is the mother of all inventions. He remarked that while during the early days of lockdown, WhatsApp became a source of virtual connects, patient data safety and privacy are at stake there. Consultation involves different parameters like time, patients’ history, previous records, and interaction with physicians, prescription – all within the legal boundaries of teleconsulting guidelines. Dr. Joshi added “I have probably used around 10 platforms in the past six months, but a platform of this nature is extremely promising and which both patients and doctors can use, adapt easily,”.
Ganesh Ramachandran, a global technology expert, emphasized that any digital health platform has to have a customer-centric approach. Connect2Clinic is a well-researched intuitive platform creating an effective communication bridge between doctors and patients. He further said, “The vision of Connect2Clinic was to provide a platform to the doctors, so as to engage their patient in a better way. Connect2Clinic is a secure, simple to use, and a self-learning and continuously evolving platform to adapt to various therapy needs.”
With Connect2Clinic, we can send the patients reminders, nutritionist or dieticians can call them up, talk to them and guide them. Through a digital mechanism, hand-holding, adherence and access, the patient feels secure that the doctor and healthcare teams are connected 24*7.
Can teleconsult be used by all therapies?

Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, leading gynecologist and pioneer in IVF treatment, is now the President Elect for FOGSI stated FOGSI with ICMR has come up with guideline, wherein we minimized the visits from 10 to 4 on an average and the rest of the visits is done through telemedicine. Dr. Mithal quoted, “I have heard about Connect2Clinic and I’m curious to see what Connect2Clinic offers and how it helps my patients and how its helps me to take care of my patients.”
Is it safe and secure?
Mr. Ramachandran highlighted that privacy and security were the key foundations on which Connect2Clinic has been envisaged. Connect2Clinic’s foundation is built on infrastructure and audio visual components which have international standard of safety (HIPAA-compliant) and adheres to ICMR and MCI guidelines (now NMC). With strict data access policy, all the data are encrypted and only the doctor and patient can view the history, reports and prescriptions. Security-by-design has been the principle that Connect2Clinic adopted in their development.
