BAM Digital Realty To Invest Rs 2,000 Cr For Second Data Centre, Acquires Land In Mumbai

BAM Digital Realty, a joint venture between Brookfield Infrastructure and Digital Realty, has made acquisition of a 2.15-acre land parcel in Chandivali, Mumbai, marking its second data centre venture in the country.

The facility is expected to entail an investment of over Rs 2000 crore (about USD 250 million), will provide 35 megawatts (MW) of IT load upon completion, augmenting the company’s planned total capacity in India to 135 MW.

BAM Digital Realty’s decision to establish a data centre in Mumbai was reportedly driven by strategic considerations, including proximity to customers and a central location within the bustling metro area. These factors make the facility well-suited to meet the escalating demand for critical digital infrastructure in the region, said the company.

This latest investment in Mumbai builds upon BAM Digital Realty’s earlier entry into the Indian market. The company’s first data centre, MAA10, boasts a greenfield construction of 20 MW, is set to launch by the end of 2023 on a Chennai-based campus with a capacity of 100 MW.
