Assam: 1 injured, properties worth Rs 35 lakh gutted in fire incident


One person was injured and properties worth over Rs 35 lakh were gutted in a massive fire incident in Assam’s Sivasagar district.

At least three houses and several shops, business establishments and motorcycles were completely gutted in the fire incident.

Properties worth over Rs 35 lakh were gutted in a massive fire incident in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Saturday morning.

One person was injured in the fire incident that took place at a market place of Khatpathar area near District Transport Officer’s (DTO) office at Sivasagar town. One person identified as Shankar Gogoi was injured and locals rushed him to hospital.

At least three houses and several shops, business establishments and motorcycles were completely gutted in the fire incident.

According to the reports, the fire broke out at a shop and quickly spread to other nearby shops and houses.

As the blaze started raging, locals tried to douse it and immediately informed local police and fire service department.

Several fire tenders and police had immediately reached the spot and managed to control the situation after several hour-long battle.

Police suspect that the fire was caused due to short circuit.
