Apple To Manufacture iPhone 15 Plus In India From Next Quarter: Report

Tech major Apple is reportedly in talks to produce the iPhone 15 Plus in India in the next quarter, having successfully started the lower-priced base model series in the country, according to a media report on Wednesday.

Taiwan multinational Foxconn will be manufacturing the iPhone 15 Plus, the report said additionally.

Meanwhile, Apple unveiled its latest iPhone series on Tuesday, offering a faster chip for better gaming and a new lighter titanium shell for the Pro models among other updates. The tech major also aims to double its Indian sales in the next quarter, enticing buyers with the new launches and price cuts on iPhone 13 and 14, hoping to achieve higher sales in the festive time.

Meanwhile, the tech major has already begun the commercial production of the iPhone 15 at the Foxconn plant, marking the production of the first time an assembled-in-India iPhone series, to be sold right at the launch stage.

However, according to reports, the local iPhone 15 manufacturing capacity is still low considering the back-to-back Indian festivals around the corner. So, to meet the purchasing demand Apple will be importing the devices from its major production hub in China.

Furthermore, reports mentioned that the iPhone 15 Plus will be the next in line for assembling in India which is likely to take shape in October-December and will be the fastest manufacturing rollout for a higher-priced model in India.

The American multinational is already manufacturing the iPhone 14, 14 Plus and 13 models in India.

Apple has not officially revealed its new manufacturing plans in India, and it is reportedly said that the company will import the iPhone 15 Plus model till its production gears along with the ultra-premium iPhone Pro series. Since the company is not planning to locally produce the iPhone Pro models it has factored in the 22 per cent import duties on smartphones along with the rupee depreciation for its India pricing strategy making the new iPhones in the country to be the highest globally.

The report stressed even with the higher price tag Apple expects to double its Indian sales.
